Welcome to the Online Home of Illustrator Craig Gilmore

Thank you for your interest in my work. I am a 33-year veteran illustrator and storyboard artist with over 70+ titles to my credit. I actively produce work worldwide for all the major motion picture, television, video game industries as well as advertising agencies, and major comic book publishers. There are a LOT of images that will be added as projects are released and I have clearances. Due to contracts and confidentiality agreements with studios some projects cannot be shown until released or aired. I will be announcing new art uploads via Twitter, Facebook or blog so keep checking in! This portfolio does not include ALL of my art produced over the years, but just a digestible sample of some of my favorite projects and to give a good indicator of what I can bring to your projects.

I am currently based in Bolivia, NC. I am a local to the Wilmington work area and also actively work in the rest of the southeast area including Charleston, SC,  Atlanta and Savannah, Ga. and worldwide. I normally work from my home studio; however, I have a studio KIT that is completely mobile for extended on location as well as remote productions. NOTE: I am fully COVID vaccinated which makes it easy to work on location when needed.

I use (or have used) the following software applications in my work process and these tools make is extremely easy to work remotely and via internet:

  • Adobe Photoshop (mainly use)
  • Adobe Fresco
  • Corel Painter (mainly use)
  • Adobe Premiere
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Manga Studio Pro
  • Art Rage
  • Sketchbook Pro
  • SketchUp
  • and MY FAVORITE of ALL…good old pencil/paper/ink/brush/markers which I use for all of my personal work, commission work and instances that call for it on shows (i.e. props).

Since I utilize a combination of digital and traditional methods in my work, it is usually drawn first on paper and then transferred to digital files for editing and/or coloring. For digital drawing and painting I use a Wacom Cintiq 22 HD touch monitor or an Wacom Intuos pad.

PLEASE NOTE

I am a union artist. I prefer to work only on union organized projects and shows with signatory companies. My union is I.A.T.S.E. With regards to the projects I take on, I am interested in conceptual illustration, poster illustration, and SHOOTING boards (meaning quick and sketchy live action work with most of the work focusing on storytelling).

I am available for commissions upon request. Rates vary depending on the type of piece you want.

If you would like to check my availability for an original illustration or for  project work, or you would like to learn more about my work, please use the chat  button at the bottom of every page.
